DETOXIFICATION
As you change your pet's diet, you may notice changes in physical appearance. Do not be alarmed. This is simply the natural process by which animals heal themselves by elminating toxins from the body. Discharge from the eyes, excess wax in the ears, loss of coat, minor skin rashes and soft, loose stools are just a few of the common signs. By gradually transitioning your pet to a raw diet, you will allow their body to adjust properly. Be careful not to mix a highly processed diet with a raw diet in the same meal.  Keep a watchful eye on your pet, and take notice of any changes.

SAFE HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS
  • Keep frozen until ready to thaw and use(typically takes a day or two to thaw depending on quantity and method).
  • Defrost in refrigerator.
  • Always serve raw food for optimum benefit. Never microwave any pet food.
  • Quick Thaw Method - put in ziplock in warm water, not hot. Don't want to cook the food, cooking reduces enzymatic properties and depletes nutrient values of raw food.
  • After serving food, place any remaining product in the refrigerator.
  • Product will maintain optimum freshness for 3-5 days under refrigeration.
  • Feed raw food in stainless steel bowl.
  • Wash all work surfaces, utensils, hands and food bowls with hot, soapy water after handling raw food items.
  • Keep raw meat and poultry away from children and seperate from other foods.

HOW MUCH?
Because a raw diet is easier to digest and more of the food is used by the body, you can feed your pet less food daily.
The general rule is to feed 2-3% of your pet's body weight daily.  We recommend feeding twice per day, splitting the portion in half.  Activity level, age, health, metabolism, etc all affect how much you feed.  Give your pet a few weeks to see a difference and adjust as needed.

TRANSITION TIPS

  • It can take 1-4 weeks for your pet's digestive system to properly adjust from a highly processed diet to a new diet of human grade raw foods
  • Add digestive enzymes the first 2 to 4 weeks to better able your pet to assimilate proteins, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals
  • Monitor their stool - your pet's stool size will be small, firm and void of any offensive odor
  • Do not feed a highly processed diet at the same meal as a raw one.  Feed kibble for breakfast and a raw product for dinner while you make the transition
